Define the Line of Sight (LOS) Height Adjustment for a diagram

 
  

About this task

Enter a value that describes the height at which no significant obstructions to WirelessHART communication exist. This value applies to all non-custom wireless devices in a diagram.

Procedure

  1. With a diagram open, select the Parameters pane.
  2. Enter a value in the LOS Height Adjustment field.
    This value represents the distance above the obstruction height which allows for optimal wireless communications range to be achieved. If you are not sure, accept the default value.

Results

Note: If you enter a value, which, when combined with the Obstruction Height, is less than the mounted height of any devices or gateway antenna, those devices will display a to indicate they are now extended range devices.
